Adams Papers & Editorial Process
The papers of President John Adams and his family is considered one of the most important collections owned by the Massachusetts Historical Society. Gwen Fries of the Adams Papers Editorial Project will give an overview of the Adams Papers and the work being done to edit and publish the collection.
The programs is being sponsored by the Special Collections of Mason Library, the MA program in History & Archives and the student chapter of Phi Alpha Theta.
Bio of the Gwen Fries Gwen Fries is the Production Editor of the Adams Papers Editorial Project at the Massachusetts Historical Society. The Adams Papers project was founded in 1954 to prepare a comprehensive published edition of the manuscripts written and received by the family of John Adams of Quincy, Massachusetts. To date, over 50 volumes have been published by Harvard University Press and are now available online as part of the Adams Papers Digital Edition. Fries holds degrees in History and Corporate Communications from Elizabethtown College and has been with the Adams Papers since 2016.
