Waste Audit

Interns in the Physical Plant Department are partnering with Eco-Reps to lead waste audits which will determine the volume of recyclables from dorms that are landfilled instead of recycled. All students are invited to participate in the waste audits and can even earn free prizes! All PPE will be provided.

The purpose of Waste Audits:

Encourages students to recycle by demonstrating the volume of recyclables that gets thrown into the trash.

Provides data to compare with Waste Management contamination standards.

Raises awareness about how much recycling has been rejected due to contamination.

Participants of the waste audit will:

• Record the total weight of the unsorted trash and recyclables.
• Sort the recyclables from the trash bin.
