Webinar: Remembrance, Education, and Building Resiliency: Teaching the Holocaust and Genocide
Led by Dr. Tom White
Genocide is an extraordinary event, but the product of ordinary human behavior. How and why must we confront the past? Explore some guiding thoughts to navigate difficult issues using frameworks for civic education that promote democratic citizenship. We will examine process, choice, and prevention. We will explore the pedagogical and contemporary challenges and considerations facing today’s classroom teacher. How do we confront the past to build resiliency, create safe spaces, while paying attention to escalating violence towards an “other”?
Dr. Thomas White is the Coordinator of Educational Outreach at the Cohen Center for Holocaust and Genocide Studies, Keene State College. The Cohen Center advances the public liberal arts mission of Keene State College through Holocaust and genocide education, inspiring students and other citizens to take responsibility for promoting human dignity and civic responsibility while confronting the escalating violence that leads to atrocity and genocide.
This event is part of the Southwest Center Featured calendar.
