Presented by Dr. Lisa DiGiovanni, Modern Languages and Cultures: Films (fiction and documentary) and narrative (novels, short stories) have played an important role in rendering visible the causes and consequences of dictatorial violence and militaristic culture in 20th - 21st century Spain and Latin America. In this presentation, Dr. DiGiovanni will show her own video-graphic essay called "Militarized Masculinity in Spain and Chile: Torture and Resistance Through Film and Narrative."
