Mentoring From the Inside Out: Tips and Tools for Today's Mentors

Learn about the novice educator and stages of teacher development, then dive into the mentor-mentee relationship. Learn “what to do when” as you coach your mentee, and how to instill reflection in real-time and asynchronously through remote means. Explore common pitfalls, online mentoring tools, avoiding mentor burnout, and remote and in-person observation strategies. Audience: K-12 educators Erin Zaffini, DMA, is a Lecturer in Music and Music Education at Keene State College and a consultant for the National Education Association, where she provides mentor training to K-12 educators in all specializations. She is also a K-5 music teacher for the Hillsborough-Deering School District, the Mentor Program Coordinator for the NH Music Educators Association (NHMEA) and Mentor Program Lead for the Society for Music Teacher Education.
