Designing a Comprehensive K-12 Music Curriculum

This lecture is part of the 2018-2019 KSC Music EducationGuest Lecture Series, which will focus on curriculum development for school music programs. In this session we will cover important considerations for designing and implementing a music curriculum that aligns with the National Core Arts Standards and encourages the development of twenty-first century skills. Discussion will also focus on how music educators can provide a musical experience for students that is engaging, rigorous, and innovative. Practical considerations for all age levels and types of music courses will be discussed. Eric Kobb teaches at the Cooperative Middle School in Stratham, NH. This session is co-sponsored by the Music Department and KSC NAfME student chapter. The lecture is free and open to the public. Continuing education hours are available for in-service teachers.
