Interns at MCVP Crisis and Prevention Center will do the following:
Complete the 30-40 hours of advocacy training required by state coalition standards
Greet survivors in the office and provide peer counseling and/or information and referral
Provide court, hospital or police advocacy as appropriate
Answer the crisis line during the day and possibly at night provide domestic violence and/or sexual assault peer counseling in accordance with state coalition standards
Meet weekly with site supervisor to discuss issues pertaining to working with survivors
Work cooperatively with the advocacy team
Be consistent, punctual, dependable and hold sacred the confidentiality afford a Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Advocate according law
This internship is for those who are interested in working with survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault and stalking. After a period of training, the intern will be working in the Court St office and on call for a scheduled amount of time providing peer counseling, hospital, court and police accompaniment, Restraining orders etc,
