Training and Application Engineer (entry-level)
OMICRON is an international company serving the electrical power industry with innovative testing and diagnostic solutions. We are currently hiring for the position of Training and Application Engineer(Entry Level) in our Waltham, MA office. This position will be responsible for providing high-level technical support of our primary products and their applications.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Direct involvement with power system apparatus diagnostics, transformers, switchgear, rotating machines and ancillary equipment.
Provide focused expertise and guidance to the industry and peers on OMICRON Primary test instruments and their applications.
Conduct customer visits to maintain customer relations and increase revenues.
Product consultation and training on electrical theory and diagnostic methods, including application, data analysis, power system apparatus evaluation and report generation to our customer base. Topics will include, but are not limited to: Power Factor (PF), Sweep Frequency Response Analysis (SFRA), Dissolved Gas Analysis (DGA), Dielectric Frequency Response Analysis (DFR), and Partial Discharge (PD).
Provide technical support to OMICRON's senior engineers, sales managers, sales representatives, and distributors.
Troubleshoot technical problems for customer and sales support.
Provide input on new products, product strategies, development, and application needs.
Manage and develop application notes and technical papers, including presentations at relevant seminars/conferences.
Perform other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of power systems, substations, generation, transmission and distribution of electric power
Excellent writing, teaching, and presentation skills

Willingness to travel (up to 50%)
Proven work and activity history
Safety training and knowledge a plus
Experience with testing and substation diagnostics preferred

The office is clean, orderly, properly lighted and ventilated. Noise levels are considered low to moderate.

Job will generally be performed in an office environment, but may require travel to visit a Client's office, production facility or industrial/construction job site. Conditions will vary at each location.
Hazards such as those encountered in substation environments, such as the presence of high voltage, and other sources of electrical shock may be encountered. May be required to use Personal Protection Equipment (PPE): hard hats, safety boots, ear protection, safety glasses, fall restraint, FR clothing.
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Technology required
Master's degree in Electronics or Electrical Engineering preferred
