Environmental Health & Safety Engineer
This position will lead Safety and Environmental initiatives at Gems Sensors & Controls to ensure compliance and drive continuous improvement of safety and environmental metrics including, accident investigation, workers compensation, electrical safety, machine guarding, chemical management, environmental reporting and hazardous waste activities.
Lead, coordinate and ensure compliance with Safety and Environmental program requirements.
Manage environmental permits, certifications and registrations.
Manage workers compensation claims
Champion waste reduction initiatives
Implement industrial hygiene and safety engineering into manufacturing processes
Coordinate emergency preparedness activities
Develop and implement corrective action plans using DBS tools
Lead and coordinate Safety, Environmental and Risk Management activity
Drive safety and environmental improvements utilizing Safety Committee
Determine and implement required and proactive EHS training
Ensure compliance with property insurance recommendations
Develop and report safety and environmental metrics
Conduct audits and implement action plans
BS in Environmental Health, Safety Sciences or related field.
2 or more years EHS experience in a manufacturing setting or manufacuring engineering experience with EHS exposure.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to influence without direct reports.
Proven analytical and organizational ability.
Effective time management and personal organization.
Excellent teamwork skills.
Proficiency in Excel, Word, & Access.
