This position will be responsible for improving workplace safety, compliance, training coordination and conducting incident investigations.
Identifying and investigating potential workplace hazards and providing recommendations to eliminate or reduce those hazards
Creating, monitoring and implementing safety policies and procedures
Ensuring that the Company is in compliance with all regulatory standards
Increasing employee safety awareness by providing comprehensive and consistent training (both regulatory and Company mandated)
Coordinating safety activities and training to ensure implementation of safety awareness programs
Facilitating communication and cooperation between management and employees on safety and health issues
Providing direction on safety programs and procedures based on organizational goals and policies
Providing internal consulting services to staff members and branch contacts on technical or operational problems relative to safety
Supports and advises the Project Team on achieving an injury free environment to ensure all team members are working safely and within the company guidelines and policies
Conduct daily inspections of jobsites actively observing and providing feedback around crew's work, tools, and equipment to eliminate hazards and identify at-risk behavior; advise on and help ensure corrective actions are taken
Develop and set up systems to insure proper handling of all Hazardous Material including proper use, storage, shipment, spill control and cleanup, and disposal
Participate in the corporate safety audit process and the follow-up required
Must pass a Drug Test
Must pass a background check
Must pass a pre-employment physical
A minimum of 3 years working as an Industrial Safety Officer in a Manufacturing facility
First aid certification
Must be able to pass physical exam
Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. Ability to exert maximum force to pull, and carry objects
Extended periods of sitting, standing, bending, squatting and kneeling
Vision a minimum 20/40 with or without corrective lenses
Excellent listening skills
Ability to follow and give direction
Ability to maintain focus
Basic math skills required (add, subtract, divide and multiply)
Reading abilities required
Ability to write
Follow safety and materials policies and procedures
