Tocci Building Companies has an immediate opening for a Safety Director. The successful candidate will be the companywide leader in administering and managing the Corporate EH&S program while fostering an incident and injury free safety culture. This position reports to the Executive Vice President. The position is based at the Tocci corporate office 50% and will travel to jobsites, clients, project partners, or conference the remaining 50%.
This position works with the Superintendent and Project Manager to administer, direct, and oversee compliance with Toccis Corporate Environmental Safety and Health policies and procedures. This position is responsible for the overall safety procedures on both a project specific level and across the organization as a whole.
Establishes and conducts effective worker orientation programs.
Oversee corporate safety training policies and implementation. Ensure all employee certifications and training meet or exceed all required local, state, and federal requirements and industry best practices. The Safety Director shall be responsible for ensure all safety training is engaging; knowledge is effectively retained, and steadfastly implemented in a project setting.
Make decisions related to work stoppage when circumstances are related to an immediate danger to life and health on a project.
Recommend and implement corrective action based on policies, guidelines and procedures.
Lead Toccis Safety Committee
Administer Toccis substance abuse prevention program.
Build working relationships with OSHA, EPA, and other regulatory agencies to promote safety and loss prevention.
Implements the site specific safety programs as required and ensures subcontractor compliance with Tocci standards and all applicable safety codes and regulations.
Implements and manages the project safety incentive programs. Manages the project safety budgets.
Analyze safety performance metrics, review incident reports, and near miss reports to make recommendations for improvement over baseline.
Review subcontractor safety programs for completeness. Participate in review of subcontractor safety programs as part of Toccis subcontractor pre-qualification program.
Conduct safety audits, issue report of violations and require immediate corrective action
Conduct 7-step incident review meetings
In concert with the Project Management Team and Site Superintendents prepare a Comprehensive Project Hazard Analysis Risk Register. Review and update Risk Register monthly. Ensure subcontractor compliance with pre-task planning and JHA program.
Assist Project Manager and Superintendent in preconstruction meetings for each subcontractor on the project.
A minimum of a four year degree in Safety and Health, or equivalent is preferred.
A minimum of ten years of safety experience or combination of education plus multiple years in building construction and a demonstrated knowledge of environmental health and safety policies and procedures
Demonstrated leadership in managing project construction safety
Experience working within and fostering an incident and injury free culture
ASP/CSP, CIH or LSP required
OSHA 500 certification preferred

Impeccable track record of safety and integrity
Excellent technical skills using all leading construction software applications
