The Safety Officer will play a key role in providing technical guidance and assistance regarding compliance with federal, state, local and company requirements as well as customer specifications. The Safety Officer will report directly to the Director of Safety and will be required to work directly with Supervisors and field personnel to ensure a safe and healthful workplace.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Working knowledge of OSHA Construction Standards CFR1926 and DOT requirements
Familiarity with ANSI, ASTM, NIOSH, CDC, NFPA
Educate construction staff about relative safety measures
Conduct training sessions for staff and educate about the latest methods of security and safety
Proficient in Microsoft Office; Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Adopting and implementing companys health and safety program including the companys Fleet and Field Safety Program
Conduct daily safety audits on active construction projects throughout Eastern Massachusetts
Experience with incident investigations and root cause analysis
Create and review Job Hazard Assessments (JHA)
Maintaining and auditing proper documentation, standard operating procedures and required by local, state, and federal governments
Certifications and Qualifications:
Bachelors Degree (Safety Studies or a related field)
Experience in Utility Construction Gas, Water, Electricity, or Communications (Preferred)
Valid unrestricted Drivers License
Possess OSHA 30-hour Construction Standards
First aid/CPR certified (Preferred)
Clean driving record
DOT Medical Examiners Certificate
