Baystate Health is seeking a qualified Environment, Health & Safety Professional to join its Safety & Environmental Affairs Department. This position has broad responsibility which includes the coordination of environmental issues including the waste management program, construction safety, laboratory safety and chemical hygiene, emergency response activities, industrial hygiene, safety education and participation in accident investigations. The incumbent also serves as a member of the Safety Committee and functions as a consultant to all Baystate Health entities as needed and is expected to provide on-call services to the corporation on a monthly rotating basis with other professional in the department.
BS/BA in environmental science or engineering, safety, chemistry or related program is required as is 3 - 5 years experience in safety and environmental management. The ability to develop strategies to meet compliance objectives and strong problem solving skills in a complex, multiple facility and diverse organization are desired. Based in Springfield, the position requires travel to other Baystate Health facilities in western Massachusetts. A pre-employment physical is required and including the assessment of the ability to wear an air purifying respirator (APR) and self contained breathing apparatus.
