Environmental Health & Safety Intern

As an EHS intern, you will support continuous improvement efforts in the areas of Hazardous Waste generation in laboratories and management of wastes at the Treatment, Storage and Disposal Facility (TSDF), as well as Water Reuse and other Environment, Health & Safety programs.
Support EHS staff through implementation of digital systems for improved efficiency and management of hazardous waste.
Implement the use of a bar-code and scanner system for tracking of hazardous wastes within the TSDF.
Develop upstream hazardous waste tracking mechanism, including bar-code/scanner system, training and analysis of hazardous wastes generated at a dynamic research facility.
Identify hazardous waste reduction efforts through above activities.
Work with site EHS personnel and researchers to develop and implement the above.
Analyze water use and water quality data from digital systems and additional testing, as needed, to develop water reuse strategies.
Assist in the review and update of various EHS procedures.
Support data quality review of waste water, hazardous waste and air pollution records and input into digital systems.
Must be enrolled in a Bachelors or Masters program in Environmental Engineering/Science, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Civil Engineering or related degree at an accredited college or university and have completed your sophomore year.
Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher for Bachelors level and 3.3 or higher for Masters level candidates.

Must be willing to work out of an office located in Niskayuna, NY.
Must be willing to take a drug test and submit to a background investigation as part of the selection process.
Must be 18 years or older.
