Dr. Wayne Hartz, CSP, is the Department Chair for the Safety and Occupational Health Applied Sciences programs at Keene State College.

Dr. Hartz holds the rank of full professor and has been on faculty at Keene State College since 2004. In addition to his duties as Department Chair, Dr. Hartz leads WorkWiseNH, a team of four safety and industrial hygiene consultants that provides small businesses in NH with guidance on how to identify and control workplace hazards.

Dr. Hartz’s areas of professional expertise include small business consultation, industrial hygiene, and higher education. He is the current Chair of ASSP’s Educational Standards Committee.

Wayne is the 2017 Granite State ASSP Safety Professional of the Year (SPY) Award winner and the 2016 winner of ASSP’s Charles V. Culbertson Outstanding Volunteer Service Award.

Ms. Linda F. Martin is the Coordinator for the M.S. in Safety and Occupational Health Sciences program and a full-time tenure-track faculty member at Keene State College.

Ms. Martin’s professional background includes construction, industrial hygiene consulting, environmental compliance, hazardous waste operations and emergency response, academia, and project management.

Ms. Martin is the 2018-2019 President of the Board of Directors for the Board of Certified Safety Professionals, and the 2018-2019 Chair of the Board of Trustees for the BCSP Foundation.

Ms. Martin is the 2018 National Safety Council Marion Martin Award winner and the 2018 Outstanding Graduate Alumni Award winner for Plymouth State College.

Dissertation Research

Linda’s dissertation research evaluates injury prevention philosophies and accident precursors and the potential usefulness of mindfulness interventions in preventing human error.


Dr. Colin Brown, CIH, CSP

Dr. Colin Brown is a full-time tenure-track faculty member at Keene State College teaching in both the undergraduate and graduate programs.

Dr. Brown’s professional background includes environmental, health and safety (EHS) experience in a variety of industries, such as metals recycling, conveyor belt manufacturing, academia, healthcare, and biopharmaceuticals.

Mr. John Mulroy is an adjunct faculty member for Keene State College’s M.S. in Safety and Occupational Health Applied Sciences Program.

Mr. Mulroy is the Industrial Hygiene Supervisor for the Pennsylvania OSHA Consultation Program and a faculty member for Indiana University of Pennsylvania.

Mr. Mulroy’s areas of professional expertise include OSHA and MSHA compliance, power generation, root cause investigations, process safety management, industrial emergency preparedness and response, industrial hygiene program management, occupational health and safety management systems implementation, loss control and risk management, and sustainable compliance program development.

Dissertation Research

John’s dissertation research focuses on measuring the effect of management leadership in the context of occupational health and safety management systems (OHSMS), and organizational safety performance, as measured by TIR and DART rates in small and medium sized enterprises.

Dr. Ryan Nolte is an adjunct faculty member for Keene State College’s M.S. in Safety and Occupational Health Applied Sciences Program.

Dr. Nolte currently works as an EHS Manager for a plastics manufacturing. His industry experience includes safety and industrial hygiene management positions for scrap and secondary metals recycling and power management.

Dr. Nolte has experience as an adjunct professor for several universities teaching a variety of environmental health and safety courses.

Jessica Richardson, CSP, CET

M.S. in Organizational Performance and Workplace Learning Boise State University

B.S. in Safety Management Slippery Rock University

Ms. Jessica Richardson is an adjunct faculty member for Keene State College’s M.S. in Safety and Occupational Health Applied Sciences Program.

Ms. Richardson has broad experience in the construction and energy sectors, covering coal, nuclear, gas, hydro, and solar. Additionally, she has specialized in construction and maintenance work on several large, industrial sites and worked in a startup environment at a technology company, developing safety management system software.

Ms. Richardson is currently a full-time faculty member in the Safety Management Department at Slippery Rock University where she was awarded the 2017-2018 Slippery Rock University Rising Star Award for Exceptional Service to Students, Staff & Faculty.
