Academic Excellence Conference
The Academic Excellence Celebration—or AEC for short!—celebrates student creativity, scholarship, and co-curricular activity. Meet some of the students participating in this year’s AEC and get a sneak peek at what they’ve been working on below:
Kaitlyn Ferdinand - Psychology
Why do you think some people are more susceptible to believing conspiracy theories than others?
Keene State College senior Kaitlyn Ferdinand is working on a project to create an image of who conspiracy theorists are by collecting data and creating a scale that measures individual endorsement in conspiracy beliefs. The data was collected to discover trends in how people perceive the world and how deeply they believe in unseen influences in the world.
Dalton Nelson-Sanger - History & Archives
Dalton Nelson-Sanger isn’t your typical college sophomore. While he does spend a lot of time on his laptop, instead of doomscrolling on social media, he’s scrolling through historical documents to see what was happening socially in the 1760s here in New Hampshire. Specifically, Dalton is looking at records relating to New Hampshire’s first Governor after British rule - Meshech Weare (June 16, 1713 – January 14, 1786)
Chloe Roy - Theatre and Dance
Senior Chloe Roy ‘25 is a costume designer and seamstress for Keene State College’s Theatre and Dance department. While looking for inspiration for costumes for a play set in colonial Africa, an opportunity presented to travel to Rwanda on an honors trip. Chloe used this trip to learn firsthand what she should include while costuming actors playing Africans back home at Keene State.
