James Walker
JAMES WALKER teaches percussion and directs the Keene State College Percussion Ensemble. James is active as a freelance musician, performing with symphony orchestras, steel bands, and as a drummer and jazz vibraphonist.
James has taught previously at Ithaca College, Northern Illinois University, and Elgin Community College, and has presented clinics at The Hartt School of Music, Western Connecticut State University, Kent State University, and for “Day of Percussion” events for the Connecticut and New Hampshire chapters of the Percussive Arts Society. James authored the “Expressive Jazz Techniques” column for Jazz Player Magazine, and has had articles published in Percussive Notes, the official magazine of the Percussive Arts Society.
A graduate of Ithaca College (BM, Percussion Performance) and Northern Illinois University (MM, Percussion Performance and Pedagogy; Performer's Certificate), his teachers have included Rosemary Small, Gordon Stout, Bill Molenhof, Rich Holly, Robert Chappell, Cliff Alexis, Al O’Connor, and Fareed Haque.
