First Fridays are held monthly at KSC.

A discussion of Chilean “Cueca” music and the life and work of Violeta Parra, a Chilean composer and ethnomusicologist born in 1917 by Amie Gagnon, Women and Gender Studies and Spanish Major, and Patricia Pedroza, Professor of WGS and American Studies. A world premiere of new compositions by Aaron Taub, Music Major, and José Lezcano, Professor of Music, performed by Alturas Duo (Scott Hill, guitar, and Carlos Boltes, viola. Reception with refreshments follows.

First Fridays celebrate research, scholarship, and creative endeavors at KSC and are sponsored by the Global Education Office and the Class of 39 funds, the Center for Creative Inquiry, the KSC Guitar Orchestra, and the Women's and Gender Studies Department.

This event is part of the RAC Redfern Series calendar and is open to the public.
