Critical Response Event: DRC v. Rwanda

Zoom Webinar
Tuesday, · -

In a renewed effort to hold Rwanda responsible for its role in violence, including alleged genocidal violence, within its territory, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, for the third time, filed a complaint against Rwanda with the International Court of Justice on June 26, 2026. The ongoing violence in the DRC and the history of violence in the region mark this as a significant push toward an international legal solution to the violence.

In this Critical Response Event, Dr. Kerstin Carlson, Associate Professor, will provide an overview of violence in Rwanda and the DRC since 1994, along with an overview of the previous cases and the newly filed one, while also providing her analysis of the new case and its potential. The Q&A will be moderated by Prof. Jeff Bachman, Cohen Institute Specialist.

This webinar is free and open to everyone, but registration is required.
