Faculty Recital Series: Kris Danielsen, Trombone & Seelan Manickam, Trumpet

The Faculty Recital Series presents Keene State Music faculty in performance, performing both canonic and under-represented works. This evening’s performance will showcase Kristoffer Danielsen, trombone, and Seelan Manickam, trumpet. Works performed include compositions by Prokofiev, Charlie Vernon, Erik Saras and more.
Dr. Kristoffer Danielsen is a low brass artist and educator active throughout New England. Kris is currently a member of the New England Repertory Orchestra, The Valley Winds, the Glens Falls Symphony, and the TUNDI Wagner in Vermont Festival. He is a member of the faculty at Westfield State University and Keene State College and has also performed with the Albany Symphony, Lowell Chamber Orchestra, Cape Symphony, Portland Symphony, Eastern Connecticut Symphony, Janus Chamber Orchestra, Handel Society, Barrington Stage Company, Bang on a Can, and has appeared as a soloist with the Keene State College Wind Ensemble. A low brass multi-instrumentalist, he performs on alto, tenor, and bass trombone, euphonium, and bass trumpet and is the founder of The Valley Bones, a low brass chamber ensemble based in western New England. Kris holds degrees from The Peabody Conservatory, UMass Amherst, and Boston University.
A native of Canada, Seelan Manickam received his BMus. in Performance at the University of Victoria and has also finished his Graduate work in trumpet performance at The Boston Conservatory. Additional studies have been with Jens Lindemann and Charles Schlueter. As a soloist Seelan has appeared with the Boston Chamber Orchestra, Cambridge Choral Society, South Coast Community Chorale, The University of Massachusetts Orchestra, Clarion University Wind Ensemble, Keene State Concert Band and The Firelands Symphony Orchestra. Other professional experience has included playing principal trumpet with The Indian Hill Symphony, New Hampshire Symphony, Salisbury Symphony, Thayer Symphony, New Bedford Symphony, Taipei Sinfionetta and Cape Ann Symphony. A founding member of the award winning Bala Brass Quintet, Seelan has toured the globe appearing in Japan, Canada, Thailand and the US. He can be heard on recordings on the Beauport and Albany labels. Currently, Seelan is on the faculty of Keene State College where he teaches trumpet and is the Director of Keene State Orchestra and the KSC Brass Choir. Seelan is an XO performing artist and plays on XO trumpets.
