Tribute to Poet & Publisher Sidney Hall, Jr.

Monday, · 7:00 p.m.

The Modern Poetry Collection, Mason Library invites you to special Zoom event in honor of poet and publisher Sidney Hall, Jr.

Well-known New Hampshire publisher and poet, Sidney Hall Jr., launches his new collection, This Understated Land, from Hobblebush Books. These collected poems are winnowed from a rich and various body of work spanning four decades. It’s a book that "contains the tools and tractors and towing chains of a life, and an imagination with a glacier’s power to roll up an entire landscape and remake it,” writes Henry Walters.

With his health declining due to ALS, Sid can no longer read aloud at length. His friends--many of them poets he has published and supported as editor at Hobblebush—will read their favorite poems from the book. We welcome you to join us to celebrate with Sid as he launches his new poetry collection and see why his poems have been described as “revelations, beautiful and true" (Sam Hamill).
