The 2021 Grayson Lecture: Prof Dennis Britton on "Pitiful Shakespeare"

The English Department's Grayson Lecture in Literary Studies is named for Professor Emeritus Janet Grayson. The series attempts to bring outstanding scholars who have made important contributions to cultural and literary studies.

This year, Prof Dennis Britton (University of British Columbia) will deliver a lecture on Shakespeare and race. Prof Britton specializes in early modern English literature, with a focus on the history of race, critical race theory, Protestant theology, and the history of emotion.

This event is supported by the Global Education and Citizenship Speakers grant and Class of 39 Fund, and by the Diversity and Multiculturalism Office
