Putnam Science Center - Room 101
Wednesday, · -
Dr. Nora Youngs (Guest speaker from Colby College) presents: In this talk, we'll discuss how your brain uses a special type of neuron to keep track of your location, and how the information from these neurons can give you a picture of your environment. We'll also talk about some of the ways mathematicians work to understand this part of the brain, and how thinking about biology can lead to some surprisingly interesting math. Note: no mathematical background is required for this talk!
