Testing is the gateway to treatment and effective treatment is a great HIV prevention tool—it saves lives and prevents HIV transmission. HIV treatment reduces the viral load—the amount of HIV in a person's body—to undetectable levels.

World AIDS Day is an opportunity for people worldwide to unite in the fight against HIV, show their support for people living with HIV, and to commemorate those who have died.

The theme of this year's World AIDS Day is "Communities make the difference".

This is an important opportunity to recognize the essential role that communities have played and continue to play in the AIDS response at the international, national and local levels.
