Apple Hill String Quartet and Brundibar

Sunday -

BRUNDIBAR ONLY at 2 p.m. Tickets are $18 & $22.

Brundibar and Apple Hill String Quartet at 7 p.m. Tickets are $25 & $30.

This distinctive concert is the centerpiece of the Fall 2016 commemorative series entitled Voices of Terezín, dedicated to the legacy of the Jewish composers and artists held in Terezín, the Nazi concentration camp in what is now the Czech Republic. Local middle and high school students perform with KSC students and faculty the children’s opera Brundibar, composed by Hans Krása with a libretto by Adolf Hoffmeister. Brundibar, which was performed over 50 times at Terezín, is a beautiful children’s story which extolls the virture of courage over tyranny. New Hampshire’s beloved Apple Hill String Quartet will perform the works of Pavel Haas, a Czech composer and also an inmate of Terezín. Voices of Terezín honors the remarkable artistry that took place in Terezín in spite of inhumane conditions, and celebrates the triumph of the human spirit.
