Percussion Ensemble

Thursday -

The KSC Percussion Ensemble presents Out of Africa, a concert of percussion music with strong roots in African drumming. It’s no mystery that Africa has the absolute largest historical influence on percussion. The compositions on this program are directly linked to African origins. Steve Reich’s monumental work Drumming is featured alongside a new piece by Vermont based composer Derrik Jordan entitled Bamako Beyond. Matthais Schmitt’s Ghanaia is another strongly African rooted work. Additional pieces by John Alfieri and Lou Harrison will be capped of by a bonus arrangement of Koji Kondo’s Goron City from The Legend of Zelda.

Theatre/Location: Alumni Recital Hall

Price: $10, $5 and $5 KSC students.
