2125 Stanley Street is a performance installation created by choreographer Dahlia Nayar that investigates questions of belonging, the challenge of creating habitat in a foreign place, and the personal embodiment of culture and cultural memory, especially in the context of home. In this special collaboration with the Thorne-Sagendorph Art Gallery, Nayar’s installation explores growing up in multi-lingual/multi-cultural households. 2125 Stanley Street invites audiences into a home that unfolds though movement and sound, a home that is both familiar and yet cannot exactly be located.
In conjunction with this performance installation, the Thorne-Sagendorph Art Gallery presents two art exhibitions that deal with the subject of home: a gallery exhibit by Dahlia Nayar that grew from 2125 Stanley Street and an educational exhibit with the Horatio Colony Museum that creates home-like environments.
