Undergraduate Programs

Keene State College Educator Preparation Programs are accredited by the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP) and the National Association of Schools of Music. Additionally, all EP Programs have approval from the New Hampshire State Board of Education and the New Hampshire Council for Teacher Education (NHCTE). Completion of KSC Educator Preparation Programs (EPP) leads to recommendation for endorsement for teacher licensure with the New Hampshire Department of Education. Upon completion of an EPP, candidates may also request verification of program completion to other states. For information on reciprocity and obtaining a teaching license in a state other than NH, please contact the Educator Preparation Office for assistance, edprepoffice@keene.edu. You can also contact the Department of Education for the state in which you are interested in pursuing licensure. Reciprocity does not mean an educator license from one state is automatically exchanged for a license in another state. The educator may have to complete additional requirements, such as coursework, assessments, or classroom experience, before receiving a full professional certificate in the new state.

Educator Preparation programs at the undergraduate level focus on building the knowledge and developing the professional skills of preservice teachers. Our teaching candidates engage in learning effective teaching practices for diverse learners through supervised clinical experiences. There are 4 undergraduate educator preparation programs at KSC which lead to recommendation for endorsement for NH licensure to the New Hampshire Department of Education:

• Elementary Education (K-6)
• Secondary Education (5-12): English, Math, Social Studies
• Music Education (K-12)
• Physical Education (K-12)

Elementary Education (K-6 licensure program)

This program includes a multidisciplinary understanding of children from kindergarten through grade 6 and fulfills the requirements for Elementary Education (K-6) teacher licensure, with a (K-8) teacher licensure option. Complete details

Secondary Education (Grades 5-12 licensure programs)

These programs prepare students with both content and pedagogy, ready to teach a specific subject or discipline through a dual major in a content area (details below) and Secondary Education.
