Recreational Sports

"Providing a World of Opportunities...Creating a Lifetime of Wellness"

The mission of Recreational Sports is to plan, organize and direct a sports and fitness program which is broad in nature and will appeal to diverse interests and skill levels. The program includes intramural sports, club sports, group fitness classes, BodyWorks fitness center, open recreation, informal instruction and special events. The focus is on fitness, wellness and the development of healthy lifestyles. The goals of the program are based on the expectation of improved physical health and vitality, as well as enhancement of academic and workplace productivity that result from regular physical activity. Participation in our excellent co-curricular program will bring added satisfaction to the students' undergraduate experience. Our quality recreation program and facilities will contribute to the positive image of the institution as well as serve as a positive recuitment tool to entice potential students to attend Keene State College.

Full-time and part-time matriculated students at KSC gain access to the Recreation Center and all Recreational Sports programs through payment of their student fees; they do not have to purchase membership to the Recreation Center. Continuing Education students may purchase a membership for $209 per semester or $418 for 2007-08 academic year, which is equivalent to what full-time and part-time matriculated students pay through their mandatory student fees.

For KSC faculty, staff, and spouses/same-sex domestic partners there is a membership fee of $480 for September 1, 2007 - August 29, 2008 for use of the entire Recreation Center. KSC faculty and staff, who have Harvard Pilgram insurance through Keene State, may sign up for the Harvard Pilgrim Health Care Wellness Connection program and have their membership covered by their health insurance plan. Photo: Rec basketball Please contact the Rec Sports office directly for more information regarding the Harvard Pilgrim Health Care Wellness Connection and how to join the Recreation Center for the summer. The Recreational Sports Handbook, which outlines policies for program and facility use and the Membership Policies Handbook, which provides complete details on the memberships available for faculty, staff, and Continuing Education students are available in the Recreational Sports Office, located on the first floor of the Recreation Center.

Full Membership includes use of the fitness center, recreational courts, swimming pool, racquetball court, all aerobic/fitness classes, and the elevated indoor jogging/walking track. Other membership options for use of specific facilities are also available; please contact the Recreational Sports Office, 603-358-2814, for additional information.
