August 10, 2012

Choose from a wide range of educational opportunities at Keene State College this fall.

To polish your job skills or pursue a personal interest, select short classes that are several hours long or courses during the day that run for a semester. Other courses emphasize on-line class participation. Online educational certificate programs taking several months to complete position you for professional-level positions in various occupations. In addition, Continuing Education also offers CD- and Internet-based learning specifically for teachers.

The college offers certificates of study in nine areas related to professional advancement including Building Science and Renewable Energy, Drafting and Design Technology, and Geographic Information Systems. Led by college faculty and leaders in the business, industrial, and professional communities, the programs can be completed on a part-time basis. Each features practical requirements relevant to the profession. You apply formally and complete 16 to 24 credits of class work.

An online certificate program in 47 areas offers flexibility in starting and completing a program anytime, anywhere. The noncredit programs are self-paced, focusing on subjects from business, construction/automotive technology, and health care to video game design and development (www.gatlineducation.com/keene/).

There are roughly 100 different all on-line courses running for six weeks that typically cost $99 each (www.ed2go.com/keene/). These project-oriented courses – containing lessons, quizzes, hands-on assignments, discussion areas, and supplementary links – are designed to be completed entirely from your home or office, at any time of the day or night. Subjects range from accounting, graphic design, sales, and marketing to web and computer programming and writing and publishing.
