Democracy and Authoritarianism (POSC-390)

This course examines the range of political systems present in the contemporary world. The course begins with an analysis of different types of democratic systems and then moves on to a consideration of various types of "hybrid" and authoritarian regimes. The purpose of the course is to introduce students to the institutional variations of different political systems and their political and economic outcomes.
