Student Center Set Up Crew
The Set-Up Crew is responsible for the quality set-up of the rooms for the many events in and around the Student Center. This includes, but is not limited to: the set-up and take down of all the meeting rooms including the Mabel Brown Room, the transportation and set-up of many chairs and tables (some heavier than others), inspection of equipment, customer service skills, etc. Those working on the Set-Up Crew can expect up to ten hours a week working, with shifts typically being an hour long, times and schedule of shifts change every week.
Student Center Information Desk Staff
Info Desk staff assist in the day-to-day operation of the Student Center. Staff answers phone calls from on-and-off-campus, directing callers appropriately. Staff are responsible for checking out and receiving tech equipment and keys. Staff maintains logs and records of services provided, and must be familiar with computers and laptops that operate on Windows. Must have night and weekend availability. Building hours: M - F 8 AM - 12 M; SA 8 AM - 12M; SU 10 AM - 12M.
Building managers are the lead student staff position in the Student Center. The manager is in charge of all building operations in the evening and on weekends. Duties include customer relations with groups and individuals using the facility for meetings, events or just hanging out. The managers are responsible for opening and closing the building on weekends. Previous experience working in the student center is required. Shift hours: M-F 3:30pm-12:00M, Sa-Su 10:00am-12:00M.
The Tech Staff is responsible for supporting the audio-visual requirements of the events that occur in and around the Student Center. Applicants MUST have prior experience setting up sound and lights, and managing any problems that may arise. Shift responsibilities range from turning on a projector to running FOH for a concert. Hours for this position are kind of crazy! There could be a 7am start, or an 11pm start, shifts could also be long or short.
The Student Center Tech Manger assists and oversees specific building operations from a media perspective. Duties include but are not limited to managing house for events requiring audio-visual applications; organizing and directing tech team during load in/load out, set up and operation of concert sound system; maintaining laptops and computers, inventory of all media/tech equipment and supplies, recommendations for media purchases, filing media/tech operations reports.
Administrative Office Assistant
Office assistants are responsible for greeting students, staff, faculty and other visitors to the Student Center Administrative Offices. Assistants act as in-person and phone receptionists for a wide array of on-and off-campus students, staff, and visitors. Assistants work with Scheduling Manager to assist in the 25Live scheduling process; and work closely with full-time staff on projects and daily activities. Excellent customer service skills are a must. Office hours: M - R 8 AM to 6 PM; F 8 AM - 4:30 PM.
Night Owl Cafe and Owls Perch Game Room Staff
The Night Owl Cafe is a multi-purpose eating and entertainment establishment on the second floor of the Student Center. Events include: bingo, movies, comedy shows, DirecTV sport packages, and other special events. All events in the NOC are free for KSC students. Popcorn and soda are served all day long and are also free of charge. NOC staff are responsible for ensuring that events run smoothly, providing guests with soda, making popcorn, and generally providing strong customer service for all guests within the space. The Owl's Perch Game Room features pool tables, table tennis, video games and more. Staff working in the Owl's Perch Game Room ensure that equipment is signed out appropriately, that the space is functional and clean, and assist with some programs as well. All NOC and Owlâ€™s Perch staff members are trained to work in both spaces. Hours: 11:00 AM - 11:00 PM; night, weekend, special event hours required.
Graphic Design Assistants
Graphic Design Assistants are responsible for creating advertisements and marketing materials for a wide variety of Student Involvement and Student Center programs, staying current on graphic design software and trends, utilizing varied means of advertising including but not limited to the Equinox, posters, television monitors, table tents, brochures, and promotional items, and generally implementing all aspects of publicity for our programs. Graphic Design majors preferred, previous graphic design knowledge a must, flexible hours, generally within 8:00 AM - 6:00 PM timeframe.
Community Service Office Student Coordinators
Student Coordinators plan and implement service events and programs for Keene State College including Alternative Breaks, Blood Drives, CANstruction, and more! Student Coordinators represent the Community Service Office on and off campus, participate in leadership development activities, and enjoy a fun, team-oriented work environment.
KSC Reads Tutors' main job is to get children excited about reading. Tutors are placed at off-campus, local Community Partners where they will work with tutees for the semester/academic year. Tutees grade levels range from Pre-K through 3rd grade.
TUTORS WILL: 1. Assist teachers and program leaders in the classroom 2. Work with teachers and program leaders to plan lessons and activities that help children learn skills in: reading, letter-sound relationships, writing and comprehension 3. Attend all training and orientation sessions 4. Display a willingness to learn new skills 5. Adhere to the professional standards of Community Partner sites
