The University System of New Hampshire (USNH) is a not-for-profit, educational institution organized in 1963 under the laws of the State of New Hampshire. It includes Keene State College, Granite State College, Plymouth State University, and the University of New Hampshire at both Durham and Manchester. The fund principal is invested in perpetuity by the Trustees of the University System of New Hampshire, and income is used in accordance with donor wishes.

Peter H. Batchelder Scholarship for the Humanities
The Peter H. Batchelder Scholarship for the Humanities provides recognition and financial assistance to be awarded annually for a maximum two year period to a Keene State College student enrolled in a School of Arts and Humanities major, with preference given to students enrolled in French, German or Philosophy majors.

Jane C. Ahrendt Batts '67 and James L. Batts Professional Studies Endowment
This endowment was created by Jane and James Batts to provide recognition and financial assistance to the Division of Professional Studies.

Stephanie H. '62 M'78 and Joseph A. Baute Scholarship Endowment
This fund was established in 2000 by Stephanie and Joseph Baute. The fund was designed to provide recognition and financial assistance to adult learners, with preference to females, who have overcome obstacles to return to school, who are enrolled at least half time, and who are planning to enroll in Elementary Education, ideally showing a strong interest in reading as an area of specialization. Matriculation is not a requirement.

The Edward and Margaret Bureau Education Endowed Scholarship
The Edward and Margaret Bureau Education Endowed Scholarship was established in 2006 by Walter J. Douthwright, graduate of the Class of 1958, to provide a source of permanent support to Keene State College students and to recognize Edward and Margaret Bureau, two very influential and deeply loved individuals in his life. The purpose of this endowment shall be to provide recognition and financial assistance to Keene State College students majoring in secondary education.

Christine Young Chadwick '29 Memorial Scholarship Endowment
This scholarship was established in 1989 with a gift from William L. Chadwick in memory of his beloved wife, Dr. Christine Young Chadwick '29. This fund will provide scholarships to full-time undergraduate students majoring in elementary education. Preference will be given to residents of New Hampshire and made on the basis of merit and/or need.

Cheshire Kennel Club Veterinary Award
The Cheshire Kennel Club Veterinary Award Endowment was created by the Cheshire Kennel Club to recognize and advance the study of veterinary science. The purpose of this endowment is to provide recognition and financial assistance to a graduating senior who has expressed the intention to pursue post-graduate studies in the field of veterinary medicine. The student must be accepted and show proof of acceptance into a veterinary college or the UNH veterinary assistant program, demonstrate financial need, and have a minimum G.P.A. of 2.50.

Clarke Distributors Inc. Safety Studies Scholarship Endowment
This scholarship was established in 1999 to support the Safety Studies program at Keene State College by the Clarke family, proud distributors of Anheuser-Busch products in the Keene community since 1949. The scholarship, which provides financial assistance and recognition to Keene State College Safety Studies majors, is an expression of the Clarke family's commitment to inspire the legal and responsible use of alcoholic beverages.

Class of 1954 Education Scholarship Endowment
This scholarship was created by the Keene Teacher's College Class of 1954 in recognition of the anniversary of their 50th class reunion in 2004. The purpose of this endowment shall be to provide recognition and financial assistance to freshmen who are enrolled in the Keene State Education Program.

Classes of 1990 and 1991 William T. Lessard Memorial Scholarship Endowment
This endowment was established by the Classes of 1990 and 1991 in honor of their friend and fellow Keene Stater Bill T. Lessard '90, who died in 1995. In additional to receiving the Student Leader of the Year Award in 1989-90, Bill served one year as a University System Student Trustee, President of the KSC Student Assembly, and President of Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity. This endowment shall also serve as a memorial to all classmates who have passed away, but who will remain forever in the thoughts of their friends and loved ones. The purpose of this endowment shall be to provide modest financial support to as many Keene State College students as possible in order to assist with incidental expenses and the purchase of educational supplies. Consideration will be given to full-time undergraduate students enrolled in KSC. Applicants must demonstrate need. Grade point average is not a consideration but recipients must meet the minimum requirements established by the Office of Student Financial Services.

Thomas J. Crowley Memorial Scholarship Endowment
This award was established in loving memory of Thomas J. Crowley, Keene State College Professor of Education from 1974 to 1992. Recipients must be education majors who have attended Keene State College for a minimum of six semesters, have been admitted to the teacher education program, and have distinguished themselves as exceptional future teachers.

Jesse F. Davis '37 Scholarship Endowment
This endowment was established in 1993 by Mr. and Mrs. Jesse F. Davis in gratitude for the excellent instruction they received at Keene State College. This scholarship provides financial assistance to full-time students who have chosen music as their major course of study. Eligible candidates must be in their junior or senior year of study and have a cumulative grade point average of 3.0. This scholarship will be awarded based on merit first, with consideration for financial need of secondary importance. Given continued eligibility, a student may have this scholarship renewed.

Lucille Plante Davis '38 Scholarship Endowment
This endowment was established in 1993 by Mr. and Mrs. Jesse F. Davis in gratitude for the excellent instruction they received at Keene State College. This scholarship provides financial assistance to full-time students of Keene State College who have chosen French as their major course of study. Eligible candidates must be in their junior or senior year of study and have a cumulative grade point average of 3.0. Eder Creative Writing Endowed Scholarship
The Eder Creative Writing Endowed Scholarship was established by Doris L. and Donald Gray Eder in 2006 out of love of and respect for creative writing and for Keene State College. The purpose of this endowment shall be to provide financial assistance and recognition to English majors/Writing minors who have organized their undergraduate studies around a passion for writing. The scholarship will be presented to a student for use during his/her senior year at the College.

Sandra E. Ellison '67 Memorial Scholarship Endowment
This scholarship was a bequest from Sandy Ellison. Sandy taught for 37 years in elementary education, second and forth grade. Sandy was a Silver Sister and past President of Alpha Delta Kappa of the Alpha Chapter. The purpose of this scholarship is to provide financial assistance and recognition to students enrolled in the Elementary Education program.

Granite State Scholars Scholarship Endowment
This endowment was created in 2002 by Keene State College in partnership with the State of New Hampshire to benefit high-achieving students from New Hampshire high schools. Consideration for this award shall be given to undergraduate students who are residents of the state of New Hampshire, are in the upper 10% of their high school graduating class, have combined SAT scores of 1200 or above and demonstrate need. Each award shall be for one academic year and could be renewable for students who continue to demonstrate need and make satisfactory progress.

Joseph H. Grilli '43 Scholarship Endowment
The Joseph H. Grilli Scholarship Endowment provides at least two annual scholarships to deserving students at Keene State College. Established in 1999, this gift was made possible through a bequest to Keene State College made by Joseph H. Grilli, Class of 1943. Consideration for the scholarship shall be to students based upon academic achievement and may be given to full- or part-time, traditional or returning adult students.

Joseph H. Grilli Alpha Pi Tau Endowment
The purpose of this endowment shall be to provide Alpha Pi Tau with funds to establish an ongoing financial assistance program for members of the Alpha Pi Tau Fraternity.

Mary C.E. Hamilton '44 and Erik H. Hamilton Scholarship Endowment
This scholarship was created by Mary to honor the memory of her beloved brother, Erik Hamilton. This scholarship will be awarded to a full-time, traditional student who is a New Hampshire resident enrolled in the Elementary Education Teacher Education program. Recipients must have successfully completed at least 60 credits.

Charles A. Hildebrandt Holocaust Studies Award Endowment
This award was created in 1998 to celebrate the 30-year career of Charles A. Hildebrandt, professor of sociology, in recognition of his dedication to the creation of the Keene State College Holocaust Resource Center. During his tenure, Dr. Hildebrandt focused on humanistic sociology of religion and minorities. His strong interest in the Holocaust led to the founding of one of Keene State's finest assets - The Holocaust Resource Center. The award provides recognition and financial assistance to individual students or student groups who create an exceptional work related to the Holocaust.

Marjorie Paulsen Hilton '44 Scholarship Endowment
Established in 1999 by Marjorie Paulsen Hilton, Class of 1944, the endowment is a tribute to her wonderful years at Keene State College, as well as her lifelong commitment to educating young people. This endowment was created to provide recognition and financial assistance to juniors or seniors who are New Hampshire or Connecticut residents majoring in Home Economics or Early Childhood Development and demonstrate strong promise in their field of study and financial need.

Paul J. Holloway Scholarship Endowment
This fund was established in 1988 by the family and friends of Paul J. Holloway, upon his retirement from the University System of New Hampshire Board of Trustees, to honor his long-term service to Keene State College, the University System of New Hampshire, and the State of New Hampshire. This fund provides a full-tuition scholarship to a New Hampshire student who is enrolled full time and who exhibits characteristics such as academic excellence and leadership. Preference will be given to a student who has demonstrated outstanding promise as a teacher and who has been accepted in the teacher education program.

Winona Vincent Hubbard '25 Memorial Scholarship
This endowment was established in 1985 by Mr. Austin Hubbard to honor his wife, Winona Vincent Hubbard '25, in recognition of the excellent education provided to Winona K. Vincent while she was a student at Keene Normal School. This fund provides scholarship assistance to full-time students who are New Hampshire residents. This scholarship is based on financial need. However, in the event of equally deserving candidates, such qualities as academic performance or promise and quality of contributions to campus life may be considered.

Leslie S. Hubbard Scholarship Endowment
This endowment was established in 1988 by Mr. Leslie S. Hubbard to provided scholarship assistance for students who are residents of Cheshire and Sullivan counties in New Hampshire, or Windham County in Vermont. Added consideration will be given to adult learner students, including continuing education students registered for as little as a single course, whose education has been interrupted or who are pursuing a college education while working or fulfilling family and other obligations. The selection committee will consider such qualities as financial need, academic excellence, qualities of leadership, and promise of future success.

Danny Paul Hunter Memorial Scholarship Endowment
This scholarship was created as a gift from Aubrey S. Thomas, Jr. '62 and his wife, Satoko N. Thomas in memory of Danny Paul Hunter, who exhibited great potential in music, and whose life was tragically cut short at age fifteen. Consideration for this scholarship shall be given to full-time students who have demonstrated academic excellence, financial need and the promise of future success in the area of music. Each award shall be for one academic year and may be renewed.

Olive Frenette Jennison Award Endowment
This endowment was established in 2005 by Edward Jennison in memory of his mother, Olive Frenette Jennison. The purpose of this endowment shall be to provide recognition and financial assistance to student who display scholastic proficiency with a penchant for environmental science. The award will be presented at the annual spring Honors Convocation. A preference will be given to students who have achieved junior standing, at least a 3.0 GPA, major in environmental studies or biology and displays a concern for the environment through their course selection, enrollment in a related minor or an activity that provides evidence of such interest.

Kalich Family Outstanding Nutrition Student Award Endowment
This endowment award was created by Judy and Richard Kalich out of respect for the College's Nutrition program and to provide awareness of the excellence in the Health Sciences. Consideration shall be given to junior or senior majoring in Health Sciences with a Nutrition option, have a minimum 3.2 GPA, display devotion to community service and who represent the Nutrition program with distinction and pride. Demonstrated need is not a criterion.

Charlotte Marsh Ketcham '42 Scholarship Endowment
Established by Charlotte Marsh Ketcham '42, who spent her professional life as a teacher in elementary and special education. This fund was created to encourage talented Keene State College students to pursue careers in special education. Full-time students of junior and senior status who have been accepted into the teacher certification program for elementary or special education are eligible to apply for this scholarship. In general, the selection committee will consider financial need, academic excellence, and promise of future success in teaching.

John K. Kontinos '53 Scholarship Endowment
Established in 1988 by John K. Kontinos '53 to provide scholarships to full-time students who are residents of New Hampshire. Financial need shall be the primary consideration for selection and the committee may choose to renew scholarship awards to students who have demonstrated academic achievement.

Class of 1939 International Education Endowment
This fund was created to promote international education at Keene State College and to support the College's participation in the Occasional Lecturer Program of the Council for International Exchange of Scholars and the KSC/Fulbright International Exchange Program.

KSC General Scholarship Endowment
This endowed scholarship represents pooled funds from various sources, including the Friendship Fund and the Keene State College Athletic Scholarship Fund. The purpose of this endowment is to provide recognition and financial assistance to Keene State College students who display academic promise.

KSC Parents Association Scholarship Endowment in honor of Ernest O. Gendron
This endowment was established in 1989 by the Keene State Parents Association in honor of Ernest O. Gendron '60 M' 63, Associate Dean of Student Affairs, who conceived the idea of establishing a Parents Association in 1973 and served as its college liaison through 1989. Applicants must have demonstrated financial need and satisfactory academic standing.

Kendall C. '60 and Carlene W. '62 Menard Scholarship Endowment
This endowment was established in memory of Kendall by family members, former classmates and friends. Ken was highly respected in the community and retired from a 32 year teaching career of which the last 30 were at the Keene Middle School. He coached high school basketball and baseball, umpired for over 15 years, and worked tirelessly to promote youth sports program. The purpose of this endowment is to provide recognition and financial assistance to students who are enrolled in the Bachelor of Science in Education program or a teacher certification. Consideration shall be given to part-time, full-time, traditional or non-traditional students with preference to individuals who are interested in coaching a sport.

Deborah L. Morgan '89 Memorial Scholarship Endowment
This scholarship was created to perpetuate Deborah's memory and the leadership qualities she exemplified. This scholarship will be awarded to a full-time student who is pursuing a teaching career in elementary education. The student must possess leadership qualities and be a caring and compassionate person, genuinely concerned with helping young children.

Anita Rawchuck Nestor '52 Nutrition Scholarship Endowment
This endowment was created by Anita, a 1952 graduate of Keene Teachers College, a Home Economics Major, whose undergraduate years were filled with school and job responsibilities. She created this endowment to enable students to more fully participate in campus life. The purpose of this endowment is to provide recognition and financial assistance to students who are enrolled in the Bachelor of Science in Nutrition program, an option of the Health Sciences at KSC.

NH Primex Safety Studies Leadership Award Endowment
This award, established in 1997 as part of the creation of the National Grange Mutual (NGM) Safety Center at Keene State College, honors outstanding New Hampshire Safety Studies students. New Hampshire Public Risk Management Exchange (Primex) is an organization that develops innovative risk management solutions in partnership with public employers and other interested parties.

Community Service Nutrition Scholarship Endowment
The purpose of this scholarship shall be to provide recognition and financial assistance to Health Science / Nutrition Option majors and shall be presented at the Spring Honor's Convocation. Consideration for this scholarship shall be given to full time students who have a minimum GPA of 3.0, have demonstrated commitment to community service, and show a pattern of engaging in a life long pursuit of professional development. Students who are pursuing a second degree in Health Science with Nutrition Option are also eligible.

Ocean Bank Scholarship Endowment
This endowment was established in 1987 by the Peterborough Savings Bank (now Ocean Bank) in order to provide scholarships to Keene State College students who are graduates of Conval, Mascenic Regional, Conant, and Milford high schools. The committee will consider full-time students with qualities such as academic achievement and leadership ability. Financial need shall be the primary consideration. Awards will be made annually, and the committee may decide to renew the scholarship for recipients who have demonstrated academic achievement.

Operating Staff Dependents Scholarship Endowment
The purpose of this endowment shall be to provide financial assistance for tuition and educational expenses to dependents of Keene State College Operating Staff employees who are attending Keene State College. Consideration for this scholarship shall be given to dependents of Keene State College Operating Staff employees. Dependents shall be defined according to the University System of New Hampshire Spouse and Dependent Children Tuition Benefit Program. Eligible recipients for this scholarship must be a matriculated full- or part-time student who has achieved at least sophomore status and has a cumulative GPA of 3.0.

Ruth Burnham Paige '45 Education Scholarship Endowment
Established in memory of Ruth Burnham Paige, a 1945 graduate of Keene Teachers College, by her husband Maurice C. Paige. Ruth was an honor student, a member of the Nu Beta Upsilon Home Economics Sorority, which was famous for providing food for the popular tea dances, and played on the Ping Pong team. This scholarship shall be awarded each year to New Hampshire residents who are seeking a Bachelor of Science degree in education. The award shall be dispersed for the academic year in which the student is enrolled and may be renewed.

Matthew T. Paul Resident Assistant Memorial Award Endowment
The Matthew T. Paul Resident Assistance Memorial Endowed Award was established in 2005 by Matt's parents, Robin and Terry Paul to honor Matt and recognize his commitment to Keene State College and, in particular, the role of Resident Assistant. Matt highly valued his involvement in student activities at Keene State, which included Student Government, Amnesty International , Alternative Spring Break, the Judicial Review Committee, the Academic Review Board and Residence Life. The purpose of this award shall provide financial assistance to a Resident Assistant or Administrative Resident who demonstrates exemplary leadership through his / her involvement in student activities.

Peerless Insurance Company Excellence in Mathematics Award Endowment
This award shall provide recognition and financial assistance to exceptional Keene State College students majoring in mathematics. Consideration for this award shall be given to the graduating senior receiving a B.A. in mathematics who possesses the highest grade point average in all required math courses.

Filomena Romano Raich '24 Scholarship Endowment
Established in 1989 by Filomena Romano Raich '24 to provide meaningful scholarship assistance to deserving students attending Keene State College. Awards will provide partial and full in-state tuition scholarships to students enrolled full time, who exhibit academic excellence and leadership. One half of the awards will be made to students accepted in the teacher education program, and one half to students accepted in any other course of study. Residents and non-residents are eligible, and awards will be made based on merit and/or need.

Anna I. Rausch '28 Scholarship Endowment
This endowment was established in 1989 as a bequest of Anna I. Rausch '28 to provide scholarship assistance to full-time New Hampshire students who graduated from West High School in Manchester, N.H. Applicants must be elementary education majors with a specific goal of becoming teachers. Awards will be made based on merit and/or financial need.

Outstanding Resident Assistant Award Endowment
This award is named to honor all past, present and future undergraduate residential life staff members who have unselfishly dedicated their time, energy and compassion in assisting students living in the residence halls to become successful students and well rounded individuals at Keene State College. The purpose of this endowment shall be to provide both recognition and financial support for the academic pursuits of outstanding resident assistants. Consideration shall be given a to full time sophomore student who is a resident assistant, returning to serve on the residential life staff for a second year, has a minimum of 2.75 GPA and show achievement in the areas of student leadership, programming, community development and campus involvement.

Hollis B. Robbins '50 Memorial Award Endowment
This endowment was created by the friends and family of Hollis B. Robbins, a Keene State College graduate of the class of 1950. In tribute to Hollis, this award is to provide recognition and financial assistance to Keene State College students. Consideration for this award shall be given to students who attended Kennett High School in Conway, N.H., for four years and who participated in at least two extra-curricular activities while there.

Alfred W. '50 M'54 and Elizabeth H. '27 '52 M'61 Thomas Scholarship
Established in 1988 by Alfred W. Thomas '50 M'54 and his wife, Elizabeth Harrison Thomas '27 '52 M'61, in recognition of the excellent education provided them and reflecting their lifelong interest in the young people of New Hampshire. Applicants must be full-time students of junior or senior class standing, residents of New Hampshire, have demonstrated outstanding promise as a teacher, and be accepted into the teacher certification program. Qualities such as financial need, academic excellence, leadership, and promise of future success in teaching will be considered.

Aubrey '62 and Satoko Thomas Scholarship Endowment
This endowment was established in 1991 as a gift of Aubrey Stephen Thomas Jr. '62, and his wife, Satoko Nagaoka Thomas. Full-time students who have demonstrated outstanding promise and who have been accepted into programs in the areas of biology, chemistry, physics, mathematics and closely related areas, including teacher certification in each of these areas, are eligible to receive this scholarship.

Alta Lu Townes Memorial Dance Award Endowment
This endowment was established in 1997 in memory of Alta Lu Townes, a dance professor at Keene State College by her family, friends, colleagues and students of Alta Lu Dance, professor of dance, who created the dance program at Keene State College. The purpose of this prize is to provide recognition and financial assistance to outstanding dance students, with special consideration given to seniors who plan graduate study in dance.

Travis-Grace Scholarship Endowment
Established as a gift to Keene State College from Elizabeth Travis Grace '41 and her husband, John W. Grace, in tribute to the excellent education provided to Mrs. Grace at Keene State College and in memory of her mother, Elizabeth Law Travis. This fund provides scholarship assistance to full-time members of the junior or senior class at Keene State College who have demonstrated outstanding promise as a teacher and who have been accepted into a program of teacher certification. Particular consideration will be given to students seeking to broaden their educational preparation through an educational program abroad of at least one semester in duration.

Cherylee Van Rossum '81 Memorial Scholarship Endowment
This endowment was established in memory of Cherylee Van Rossum '81 by the family and friends. This fund will provide scholarships to full-time students who are members of the sophomore, junior, or senior classes. Recipients will be selected based on financial need, academic excellence, and service to the College community through active participation in campus activities.

Voluntary Service Endowed Scholarship Endowment
This endowment was established by an anonymous donor to Keene State College to assist students who have demonstrated concern for humankind through active involvement in voluntary community service. These scholarships are for students who are entering their junior or senior year at Keene State College and who have a demonstrated and documented commitment to community service. Additional factors to be considered may include academic achievement and financial need. Scholarships are non-renewable.

Maynard C. Waltz Memorial Award Endowment
This endowment was created to perpetuate the memory and qualities of the life of Maynard Waltz, who was a faculty member of Keene State College from 1930 to 1965. He taught both educational psychology and Latin and served as a member and chair of both the education and foreign language departments and retired as professor emeritus. This award endowment shall provide recognition and financial assistance to full time traditional students with junior or senior status who are pursuing a teaching career in secondary science or math education. The student must possess strong academic qualities in science and math, have high motivation to become a teacher, and exhibit qualities of compassion, integrity, citizenship and fairness.

Dr. Y Scholarship Endowment
This endowment was created in honor of Dr. Stanley Yarosewick "Dr. Y" upon his retirement after 11 years of service to Keene State College. His commitment to public higher education and the students it serves is clearly the hallmark of Dr. Y's career. This scholarship will give preference for first-generation college students who are enrolled in a science curriculum.
