Dear Student,
This is just a reminder that in order to participate in Housing Selection you must be enrolled in a minimum of 12 credits by 4:30 PM on April 11, 2008.
If you neglect to enroll in a minimum of 12 credits by the deadline, you will not be eligible to select a room and will only be offered housing from the waitlist on a space available basis.
Thank you,

Dear Student,
In light of the demand for on-campus housing for fall 2008, the College has held a number of conversations with concerned students, parents, faculty and staff. To make it more convenient and timely for students to make off-campus housing arrangements, President Giles-Gee has authorized Student Financial Services to issue fall 2008 housing deposit refunds to a limited number of students. The following describes the process for students to make a housing deposit refund request.
Any student who wants to request a refund must complete and submit a Housing Release Request form located on the Residential Life website no later than 5:00 p.m. on April 11, 2008. The form is located at the following address:
Housing Release Form
Please review the following guidelines for this process:
1. Housing Deposit Refund requests must be submitted by 5:00pm Friday April 11, 2008.
2. No more than 150 deposits will be refunded.
3. If more than 150 requests are received, priority for the refund will be given to juniors and seniors and then to sophomores.
Under the section Reason for Request, please enter the words "Refund Request" in the box labeled Other. Residential Life will notify students via their MyKSC email account if their request is denied (as a result of requests exceeding the 150 limit).
Student Financial Services will review the list of approved deposit refunds beginning Monday, April 14, 2008.
Refund checks will begin to be available Wednesday, April 16, 2008. Students will receive an email to their MYKSC account stating the check is ready to be picked up in Student Financial Services.
NOTE: If a student has an outstanding balance due on their student account, that obligation will be taken care of prior to the refund being issued.

Dear Student,
As you are probably aware, due to the unusually large number of returning students who placed a housing deposit this year changes were made to the housing selection process. When it became apparent that we would not be able to provide on campus housing to every student who deposited, the process was modified as follows:
1. The decision was made to prioritize on campus housing for students who will have freshman or sophomore standing by the culmination of the spring 2008 term. Class standing is determined by credits earned as documented in the KSC Catalog and is also detailed on the Residential Life website. The result is that some juniors and seniors will be waitlisted… the rationale being that these students are better prepared to live off campus - and to do so is within the natural progression toward independent living.
2. The decision was made to combine the junior and senior classes for the purpose of lottery number generation. This ensures that the potential for being waitlisted is shared among juniors and seniors - rather than juniors making up the bulk of the waitlist.
3. The decision was made that the freshman and sophomore classes will select rooms before juniors and seniors, and only in the following pre-defined areas:
A. Selected singles in Holloway, Carle, Owls Nests, Keddy, Fiske and Mini-houses
B. Selected rooms in Huntress
C. Selected suites in One Butler Court
D. All apartments in Bushnell
E. All rooms and suites in Pondside I, Owls Nests, Fiske and Mini-houses
4. The decision was made to set aside the following spaces for juniors and seniors:
A. Selected suites in One Butler Court
B. Selected singles in Huntress and Fiske
C. All apartments in Pondside II and Tisdale
5. The decision was made that juniors and seniors will not be allowed to live in freshman and sophomore areas listed in #3 above. Likewise, freshman and sophomore students will not be allowed to live in areas set aside for juniors and seniors, listed in #4 above. If we allowed sophomores to pick rooms in junior/senior areas, it would reduce the number of spaces reserved for juniors and seniors. Likewise, if juniors and seniors selected rooms in the freshman/sophomore areas, we would face the risk of running out of available spaces for freshmen and sophomore students.
The breakdown of lottery numbers by class and sex is:
Male Lottery Numbers:
1 - 216 (juniors and seniors)
217 - 630 (freshmen and sophomores)
Female Lottery Numbers:
1 - 396 (juniors and seniors)
397 - 999 (freshmen and sophomores)
Select your room according to the room selection schedule posted on our website at Announcements.
Room Selection Information sessions are scheduled in the Student Center from 7:00 - 8:30 pm on April 2nd and 3rd. Detailed Housing Selection instructions are posted on the Residential Life website at Selection Instructions.
