Backpacks to Briefcases
Backpacks to Briefcases aims to promote professionalism on campus and in the career world. Our mission is to educate the community as well as our peers about diversity in the workplace, the importance of acting professional in different environments and overall, preparation for a career. This LLC is perfect for anyone who will one day make the transition from Backpack to Briefcase.
Cultural Infusion
The Cultural Infusion LLC invitates you to explore foreign and beautiful worlds that may not be well known on campus. In this community, members will have the opportunity to learn, promote and enhance their cultural understanding. This will be done through hosting culturally aware programs that will include food, dance, art or music. As a society, we tend to fall into one perspective and are afraid of different and unknown things, but celebrating cultural differences is just as gratifying as celebrating a single culture. Thus, in this community, students can explore, ask questions and learn more about cultures outside of our own. There are intriguing and unique traditions to learn about the world we live in, you just have to be willing to open the door and learn about them.
Community Service
The purpose of this community service suite is to bring people together to serve people in need. These programs will focus on helping others in the town of Keene and other surrounding areas.
Future Educators
The Future Educators LLC provides members opportunities to share information that will help them to develop successful approaches to lesson planning, classroom management, and responding to student learning and behavior challenges. The LLC will enable its members to take what they are learning in their education classes and begin to apply them. Join us as we share ideas and books, go on educational field trips, watch inspiring movies about teachers, and support each other as well as newer students coming up through the Education program. All applicants must be admitted to the Teacher Education program or applying for admission during the year of being an LLC member.
Feminist Life
Do you believe in equal rights for people of all genders? Then you are a feminist! Join this friendly community to learn more about feminism and teach others at the same time. Everyone is welcome--feminism is for everyone!
GLBT Educators & Advocates
The GLBT Educators and Advocates LLC serves as a safe haven for GLBT students and also aims to promote awareness, tolerance, and education on issues regarding the GLBT community. We strive to educate people on what it means to be gay, lesbian, bisexual, or transgender in not only a college setting, but in everyday life. We also feel that it's really important to have a place on campus where GLBT students know they will feel safe, loved, and truly be themselves without having to worry about homophobia, harassment, violence, or judgment.
Honors
The Honors LLC is for honors students with a commitment to excellence. Students continue to develop their creativity, independence, and self-confidence as scholars in this supportive environment. Students will focus on their educational and personal goals, community membership, and professional preparation. Individual abilities are also strengthened by opportunities to work together to integrate and expand on knowledge gained through coursework. Events and activities that advance understanding on campus of global engagement, citizenship, scholarship, diversity, multiculturalism, leadership, mentorship, study away, and service are encouraged.
The Keene Society of Architecture
The KSA is dedicated to helping students discover the true importance of building design and how it affects our daily lives. Architecture is more than a profession; it is a process that requires collaborating with peers and working together in order to achieve a common goal. This LLC will encourage students to think critically and identify smart and sustainable design solutions. The events hosted by The Keene Society of Architecture will allow for participants to express their own creativity while experiencing the challenging design process.
Leadership
The Leadership LLC is a community where all students can come together to develop and grow their leadership skills. In this supportive setting, students can practice and learn about leadership from programs, professionals, and their peers. The Leadership LLC encourages all students to recognize themselves as leaders, and to put theory into practice in their community, the classroom, and beyond.
Literature Appreciation
The Literature Appreciation community is for anyone who loves books. We will participate in and host book related activities, such as book discussions and book drives, as well as community outreach centered on reading and learning. We welcome anyone with an open mind about literature. Don't forget to mention your favorite book in your application!
Music
We provide a common place for music majors to gather and converse with one another about music and other common areas of interest. Three primary goals are: 1. To reach out to the College community in order to build interest in all types of music. 2. To form a close bond with other music majors and to foster an atmosphere of sharing. 3. To host both music- and non-music-related programs that includes all members of the Keene State community.
Psychology
The Psychology LLC is designed to further the interest of psychology within the community of Keene State College. Through various activities, we hope to further the understanding of how Psychology affects many, many fields of study and profession throughout the world. We are looking to have an excited, bright group of individuals, dedicated to this goal, as well as having a great time within the LLC itself.
Student Involvement
The Student Involvement LLC is looking to admit students who are actively involved on campus and that can demonstrate that being a part of an organization enriches their college experience. We are looking for students who are a member of one or more clubs, teams, or organizations on campus. The goals of the Student Involvement Suite is to help each other and the KSC community build on skills that are not learned in the classroom, such as time management, leadership, and cooperative planning.
Wellness
The Wellness community consists of students interested in promoting healthy choices and lifestyles through peer education and programming. This can include but is not limited to healthy eating, healthy relationships, stress management, sexual responsibility, and alcohol and other drug awareness. We strive to help educate students so that they can make decisions which lead to productive and well-balanced lives.
