Colleague Recognition

Michael Gianferrari receives the Golden Owl.
Michael Gianferrari receives the Golden Owl.

From Barbara Beaton, Health Science:

I’d like to recognize Michael Gianferrari with the award of Oscar. As a member of the Staff Recognition Committee, I felt it important to reach out to the corners of Keene State and recognize someone that is not often seen by a lot of employees, however, is extremely deserving of this award.

As assistant manager for athletic facilities, Michael primarily works on the athletic fields. However during the winter months he can be found plowing the parking lots, which is no easy feat working around parked cars. The spring months often keep Michael working 7 days a week, keeping him from friends and important time with family.

If you know Michael, you know he is a quick witted, fun person that is always willing to help wherever needed, never complains, and is a great mentor to the younger guys on Grounds.

Thank you for your dedication to KSC!

From Renee Harlow, Purchasing:

When considering whom to pass the Owl to several well deserving people come to mind. However, there is one name that keeps coming to my mind. It is with great pleasure that I pass “Olivia” on to Kathi Davis from the Physical Plant.

I am consistently amazed by the work Kathi does on a daily basis. From managing complex budgets, various work crews, paying invoices to working through daily “emergencies” Kathi seemingly handles each with ease. Her work ethic is second to none!

On a personal note, working with and knowing Kathi has always been a pleasure. I appreciate her willingness to always work together to resolve issues and improve procedures.

Please join me in congratulating Kathi for a job well done. Her contribution to Keene State College is appreciated and I am happy to be the one to acknowledge it.

From Jeff Maher, Title IX coordinator:

I would like to give a Shout Out to Heather McCarthy. Heather was instrumental in developing a case management database for Title IX reports. Her efforts will greatly enhance our ability to maintain complete records, identify trends, and ultimately better support our students, faculty and staff. Heather has taken a data collection process that once took days and reduced it to a report that can be generated in minutes. Importantly, she volunteered her time and effort for this project.

Heather’s efforts were so well received that her database is being adopted and used at other schools within the University System of New Hampshire. Her work ethic and commitment to both Keene State and USNH is commendable.

I am grateful for your assistance and the technical expertise that you provided in completing this project. Thank you!
