Naomi Tutu to Speak on Truth and Reconciliation

Please join us Monday, October 25, at 7:30 p.m. in the Mabel Brown Room for the first lecture in the Dr. Lila C. Murphy ‘52 Women and Leadership Lecture Series.

Naomi Tutu, Daughter of Archbishop Desmond Tutu, will speak on “Truth and Reconciliation: Healing Wounds.”

Ms. Tutu is a speaker on Human Rights, Gender, Race Relations and Activism. She has served as a development consultant in West Africa and a program coordinator for programs on Race and Gender and Gender-Based Violence in Education at the African Gender Institute at the University of Cape Town. She has led Truth and Reconciliation Workshops for groups dealing with different types of conflict. Together with Rose Bator she presents a workshop titled “Building Bridges: Dealing with Issues of Race and Racism.” The two lead women’s retreats through their organization Sister Sojourner and are writing a book, I Don’t Think of You as Black: Honest Conversations on Race and Racism.
