Center City Design: A Community Conversation

As part of an effort to engage the public in helping to shape the future of downtown Keene, the Greater Keene Chamber of Commerce held a two-day design workshop earlier this summer related to planned development along Gilbo Avenue. Entitled “Center City Design – A Community Conversation,” the workshop informed the community about four proposed projects on Gilbo Avenue and solicited input on how to best integrate them into the downtown area. On Friday, October 29, 2010 from 4 – 6 p.m. the Chamber will present the findings from the interactive community workshop. The presentation will take place at Heberton Hall at 76 Winter Street.

The October 29th presentation will summarize public input that was gathered from the initial community workshops on the four planned projects along Gilbo Avenue – an recreation/civic center, a community multi-arts facility, an academic building for Antioch University New England, and a municipal parking facility. The presentation will identify key issues and opportunities related to urban design, bicycle and pedestrian facilities, streetscape and landscape, and transportation. The information presented will be used to inform and direct the next level of design for each of the buildings along Gilbo Avenue.

For more information about the upcoming presentation contact E. Thomas Dowling, President of the Greater Keene Chamber of Commerce Foundation at 352-1303 or visit the chamber’s website at www.keenechamber.com.
