Keene Writes … and Rewrites

From Sara Hottinger:

October 20 has been declared a National Day on Writing, and KSC is participating by hosting an all-day event in the Mountain View Room.

“Keene Writes … and Rewrites” is a celebration of the writing process, from the blank screen to the first draft to the chaos of revising. Last year, we displayed published pieces; this year, we will celebrate what it takes to create them. Take part in our walk-through board game to win a prize; blog and journal as you go. As you move through the board, participate in contests and view displays representing various stages of the writing process. “Keene Writes … and Rewrites” will be held in the Madison Street Lounge on Wednesday, October 20 from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m.

To enrich our event, we are asking you to contribute to our displays and activities. Consider submitting photocopies of drafts of written work — these can be copies of drafts with teacher comments, your own notes, editor’s notes, or other marks — along with the final, completed drafts. Or send us photographs of your writing space (or a place that inspires you to write) for our display. The deadline for participation is October 15. Please e-mail or bring your entries to the Center for Writing, 81 Blake Street between 10 a.m. and 8 p.m. Please make sure your entry clearly identifies you, where you work on our campus, and a little bit of information about the text or photo you are submitting. Photocopies would be appreciated — we will not be able to return the copies. Feel free to contact Kirsti Sandy, at ksandy@keene.edu, if you have any questions.
