From Jackie Hooper, Redfern Arts Center:

Dynamic performances in jazz music, family theatre, and modern dance are among the many events scheduled during the 2010–11 season at the Redfern Arts Center on Brickyard Pond at Keene State College. The season runs the gamut from influential performers at the top of their game to emerging artists earning the attention of national audiences.

The public is invited to a free Season Preview on Thursday, September 9, from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Redfern lobby. Short presentations about the season lineup and video clips of performers will be followed by refreshments.

The Tierney Sutton Band opens the season with a high-powered jazz concert on October 6. Aquila Theatre Company stages A Midsummer Night’s Dream, with a school performance on October 25, at 9:30 a.m. and an evening performance on Tuesday, October 26. Blue Heron Renaissance Choir provides a beautiful evening of song on November 3.

In the new year, Sandglass Theater and physical comedian Bob Berky present “Richard 3.5: Light Ruminations On Murder” on January 28. The Philadelphia Dance Company (Philadanco) performs on February 15. Another modern dance troupe, Monica Bill Barnes & Company, kicks off the 2011 American College Dance Festival at Keene State on March 9. Christopher O’Riley performs a concert that juxtaposes different musical styles on February 23. And Mango Blue rounds out the season with a concert of Afro-Latin and world music on March 23.
