Blackboard upgrade complete: Demos, drop-ins, and ice cream toppings coming up!

From Jenny Darrow, Academic Technology:

We are happy to report that the upgrade from Blackboard 7.3 to 9.1 over the July 4th weekend went very well, and we encourage you to log in and explore the new interface. We think you will be happily surprised with the improvements in course management workflow, especially the simple “one-click” access to the control panel. As with any updated product, things will look different, but don’t let that intimidate you.

The CELT/Academic Technology team will be on hand Thursday afternoon, July 22 in the Madison Street Lounge for a 1-hour drop-in session (2-3 p.m.) and a 1-hour demonstration of the new look and feel of Blackboard 9.1 (3-4 p.m.). So drop by after picking up your Thursday afternoon ice cream and ask us questions; we’ll even have extra-special toppings for your cone! Stick around for a more formal demonstration of the new course home page, control panel, grade center, and more.

If you can’t make it, that’s okay. We’ve created a short list of important things to know:

  • Our growing library of Blackboard “how-to” documentation can be found on the AT site: http://keeneweb.org/at
  • Be sure the “ON/OFF” toggle on the Blackboard course home page is “ON” (upper right-hand corner of the screen). This provides you with instructor access to the course. Toggle to “OFF” when you want to view the course as a student would.
  • Bb fall courses will be created by the end of the day, Wednesday, July 21.
  • If you have any questions about Blackboard, please e-mail our support team: blackboard@keene.edu.
