Class and rank workshop (new date added!)
As you may have seen, a bevy of groups* on campus is sponsoring a workshop, “Class and Rank at Keene State College,” with facilitators Rhonda Soto and Caridad Martinez. Faculty and staff are invited to attend one of the sessions:
- Monday, May 10, 9-11:30 a.m. in the Madison St. Lounge
- Tuesday, May 11, 1-3:30 p.m. in Rhodes 210
- Newly added: Friday, May 21, 1:30-4 (location TBA)
There’s been some confusion about the length of these workshops; they are each two and a half hours long, but the content will be the same in each.
From Rhonda’s description of the session:
When asked does class play out at work, how would you reply? What goes through your mind? Is rank a part of it? Do we even know how to begin the conversation? Fortunately it has become increasingly clear to many of us, that true unity must be based on a deep knowledge, respect, and appreciation of our differences. … Join us on this journey of exploration and begin the taboo discussions of class and rank in the workplace!
*”Bevy” in this case includes the PAT Council, Operating Staff Council, KSCEA, KSCAA, Campus Commission on the Status of Women, Office of Diversity and Multiculturalism, and Campus Commission on Diversity and Multiculturalism
