Owls to hold fundraisers on Saturday

From Stuart Kaufman, Sports Information:

Keene State College baseball and softball teams will hold fundraisers during their final regular season home games against the University of Southern Maine on Saturday.

The Keene State baseball program will join the other seven Little East Conference teams in raising awareness and funds for prostate cancer. The softball team will hold a “Play for a Cure” game to support Susan G. Komen for the Cure.
In addition to setting up a table for donations and literature, both teams will mark the day in special ways. The bases at the baseball game will be painted light blue – the awareness color of prostate cancer. Players will also be wearing light blue wrist bands. And the KSC softball team will be selling $1 admission tickets that will be used in a raffle for prizes and gift cards provided by local businesses. The players will also be selling pink arm bracelets and baked goods.

The Keene State Athletic Training Society will also be hosting a spring fever event at Owl Athletic Complex. There will be raffles, a dunk tank, a pie-throwing station and mini games. Prizes from the raffle include an iPod Touch and a Wii Sport. All proceeds will go to the Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation.

Members of the Keene State and Keene communities are encouraged to come out and support these causes as well as cheer on the Owls as they take on the Huskies.

Update: Both teams have doubleheaders; baseball starts at noon, and softball starts at 1 p.m.
