Rob Westerberg named Music Distinguished Alum

Rob Westerberg is the recipient of the Keene State College Department of Music’s Distinguished Alumni Award for 2009-10. He currently serves as the choral director at York High School in York, Maine and is the director of the Portland Community Chorus. Mr. Westerberg earned a B. M. in Music Education from at Keene State College and M. M. in Choral Conducting from the University of Maine.

Rob is the past President of the Maine Music Educators Association, Vermont Music Educators Association, and the Vermont Choral Directors Association. He has managed District, All State and Eastern Division Choirs and served as chairman for the Maine All State Music Festival in both 2005 and 2006. In 2000, Westerberg was nationally recognized by the New Hampshire Music Educators Association as one of their “accomplished” Music Teachers and was a 2007 nominee for the Maine Arts Alliance Bill Bonyun Award for Arts Advocacy.

Rob will be a guest on the KSC campus on Thursday, November 4, and will be receiving the award at the Concert Band performance in the Redfern Arts Center Main Theatre at 7:30 p.m.
