KSC and KPD recognized by Campus Compact for New Hampshire

From Misha Charles, President’s Office:

Campus Compact for New Hampshire recognized the students of the Keene State College Geography Department Senior Seminar taught by Professor Christopher Cusack, Keene State Budget Coordinator John Halter, and the Keene Police Department at the annual Presidents’ Awards luncheon on April 13 in Nashua.

The students were honored with the Presidents’ Leadership Award. The seminar uses teams of three to four students to carry out service learning projects to benefit the community, with the intent to publish and present professional-quality reports.

John Halter received the Presidents’ Good Steward Award. John has extended himself well beyond the scope of his job to foster the growth and development of Keene State College students through global service and the promotion of diversity and inclusion. He has played a significant role negotiating international exchange agreements, providing logistical support for national and international service projects and advising multicultural student organizations.

The Keene Police Department, represented by Police Liaison Officer John Stewart, was the recipient of the Presidents’ Community Partner Award. The police liaison position is central to the working relationship between the city and the college. Since Officer Stewart’s appointment, the city and college have seen significant increases in communication among the two organizations and also with students, landlords and neighbors.
