Walk/Run for Leukemia

From Michelle Corf ‘11:

Dear Faculty and Staff,

On Saturday April 10, 2010 the 1st Annual Walk/Run for Leukemia will take place on the A fields. The event runs from noon to 4 p.m., and we invite you to attend. The walk is not only to raise money for a great cause, but also in memory of two of our own.

In the spring of 2005, Allison Corf was diagnosed with leukemia. In the fall, Allison came to Keene State College as a freshman. She left after her first year to receive a bone marrow transplant in Boston. After a long and inspirational fight, Allison passed away in early 2007.

In 2008, Dr. Johanna Kolodziejski (Dr. K), was diagnosed with leukemia. Dr. K was a biology professor at Keene State, and was passionate about teaching, and about her students. Unfortunately in 2009 Dr. K also lost her battle with cancer.

These two inspirational women are remembered every day. All the money that is donated at the Walk/Run for Leukemia will be given to Dana Farber Cancer Institute in memory of Allison and Dr. K.

I hope that you can attend the event and encourage your students to attend. This is a great cause, and we want to make the biggest impact possible. Please don’t believe people when they say you can’t change the world. Thank you for you time and support. If you have any questions please e-mail me. Also visit the walk’s website to find out more information and to learn how to donate.

Sincerely,

Michelle Corf
