Laura Mielke was selected for the difference she works to make through her role in the Upward Bound program, which prepares students for success in high school and enrollment in college. It is funded by the U.S. Department of Education and is free of charge to students who meet eligibility criteria. Mielke actively educates New Hampshire’s high school students that college is a possibility for all and that resources are available. She collaborates with school counselors and faculty to help with college preparation and the needs of low-income students. She advocates on a federal level for funding to programs that assist underserved students. A full article about Mielke’s selection is online.

Rich Grogan was recognized for his work in the small business community – his work is helping to build New Hampshire’s economy, one small business at a time. Rich helps small businesses in a variety of ways, from marketing to financial advice. He listens closely to his clients, and delivers the help they need. He also is actively engaged in community outreach. More on Grogan can be found online.

The “40 Under 40” program is an annual selection of 40 New Hampshire individuals who are under 40 years of age, and who are contributing significantly to their field, community or to the state. These individuals have the ability to continue to do so in the future.
