KEENE, N.H. - The Redfern Arts Center on Brickyard Pond and Keene’s Colonial Theatre will present the award-winning Acting Company in Orson Welles’s adaptation of the classic Herman Melville novel, Moby Dick, in Moby Dick, Rehearsed. Those who like having their literature served up in delightful dramatic adaptations will find much to enjoy in this production.

The performance is at Keene’s Colonial Theatre, Sunday, April 13, at 7:30 p.m., followed by a student matinee on Monday, April 14, at 9:30 a.m. One may order tickets through the Redfern Arts Center at 358-2168, the Colonial Theatre at 603-352-2033, or the web at [www.thecolonial.org/default.htm.

Moby Dick, Rehearsed draws powerful parallels between King Lear and Captain Ahab. Only a fool, or perhaps a genius, would adapt one of the greatest American novels for the stage. Welles was a bit of both. Theatre enthusiasts will love what he has created out of that most famous tale, Moby Dick. Set in an empty theatre, a tyrannical actor-manager leads his cast and transports audiences to Captain Ahab’s fateful voyage across the open seas in search of the great white whale.

Honored by the Tonys® for Excellence in Theater, The Acting Company has won the Los Angeles Drama Critic’s Circle Award and Obie Awards. See for yourself what makes the Acting Company the most respected and praised touring repertory theatre in America.
