Nominations Sought for Outstanding Women of New Hampshire

KEENE, N.H. 1/17/06 - Each March, as part of its celebration of Women’s History Month, Keene State College recognizes women who have demonstrated leadership or made outstanding contributions to the campus, the community, and the state of New Hampshire. Nominations are currently being sought for the 2006 KSC President’s Outstanding Women of New Hampshire Awards.

The College seeks to honor women whose contributions create inspiration, hope, and a sense of possibility for others. These contributions might include volunteer and community work, holding leadership positions, providing support for the personal and professional goals and interests of the community, serving as a role model or mentor to others, organizing campus or community events, and voicing women’s concerns on boards or committees or in political organizations.

The theme for the 2006 National Women’s History Project is “Women: Builders of Communities and Dreams,” and nominators are encouraged to emphasize this theme in the nomination narrative.

Nominations are considered in each of four categories:

outstanding service or achievement by a KSC student;

outstanding service or achievement by a member of the KSC faculty or staff (excluding current members of the Presidents Commission on the Status of Women);

outstanding service or achievement by a woman from the Monadnock Region; and

outstanding service or achievement by a woman from the state or region.

The letter of nomination should be no more than two pages, address the criteria listed above, and provide the following information:

how the nominator knows the individual;

why the nominator feels the individual deserves this recognition; and

how this person has contributed to the support and advancement of women.

Mail the completed nomination by Monday, Feb. 6, to Julie Dickson, executive assistant to the president, MS-1504, Keene State College, Keene, N.H. 03435-1504, or by e-mail to jdickson@keene.edu.
