Foundation for the Righteous Supports Kristallnacht Event

KEENE, N.H. 10/29/02 - New York Citys Jewish Foundation for the Righteous has awarded a $750 grant to the Cohen Center for Holocaust Studies at Keene State College to help support Keenes remembrance of Kristallnacht, two days of violence against Jews in 1938, often cited as the beginning of state- sanctioned persecution of Germanys Jews which evolved into the Holocaust.

The Foundation joins the Cohen Center, the KSC Campus Ministry, and the Keene Interfaith Clergy Association in sponsoring the Kristallnacht program, which will take place at 7:30 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 9, in the Larracey Auditorium of Keene Middle School. The annual event is free and open to the public.

The Foundation has also recognized the Cohen Center for its educational outreach program, naming it a Holocaust Center of Excellence.

This recognition creates a working partnership to develop teacher education programs that meet the needs of the communities served by the Cohen Center, said Dr. Paul Vincent, director of the Cohen Center. We are proud of our new association with the Jewish Foundation for the Righteous, which serves a nationwide educational function.
